ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Grant Gardner from Minnesota went missing on his three-day hike in the Cloud Peak Wilderness after he last contacted his wife on July 29 from the summit — his vehicle was found at the West Ten Sleep trailhead. Rescue teams from several counties are using helicopters, planes, and search dogs as they continue the search amid extreme weather — additional assets arrived Monday to aid the effort. Sheridan Media

ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Governor Mark Gordon opened the Brook Mine near Sheridan — the state's first coal mine in 50 years and the first rare earth mine in 70 years — after tests revealed that its coal contains minerals used in wind turbines and military equipment. The mine received a 5-year permit and a $6.1 million grant supports a processing facility that will begin construction later this year. Sheridan Media

- ➤ Two Sheridan College students earned national recognition when they qualified by winning gold medals in Wyoming this past April and competed at the SkillsUSA event at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.
