COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce Agriculture & Natural Resources Committee restarted its Lunchtime Conversations About Open Spaces series at Luminous Brewhouse from 12 to 1 p.m. on March 25, discussing ways to attract pollinators, wildlife, and community benefits from small acreages—its next session is set for April 22 at noon.  Sheridan Media
  • Starting April 18th, The Sheridan Press will publish content online only on Fridays — ending its weekly print edition. The digital shift gives local readers a new way to access the news on that day.  The Sheridan Press

CULTURE NEWS

  • Ucross announced free art events on April 18 where the public will join an artist and curator talk at 11 a.m. at Kinnison Hall at Sheridan College and a gallery reception at 6 p.m. at the Ucross Art Gallery on Big Red Lane in Clearmont. EDUCATION NEWS

  • First Lady Jennie Gordon urged lawmakers to review a federal summer nutrition program to feed 35,000 children facing hunger as Wyoming officials have twice rejected the aid, and the Select Committee on School Finance Recalibration will add childhood nutrition to its review. Wyoming Education Superintendent Megan Degenfelder supports the move—saying that food insecurity harms learning—as advocates warn that many rural kids risk missing meals during the summer.  Casper Star-Tribune

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Wyoming will appeal a ruling from February that declared the Legislature underfunds schools—state officials say they will soon file the challenge. The state plans to present its case to adjust education spending as ordered by the judge.  Casper Star-Tribune
