COMMUNITY NEWS

  • AARP's new 'Great Places to Live' episode featured local work when host Patty Kim praised the Community Land Trust's Soldier Ridge trail system.  The Sheridan Press

CULTURE NEWS

  • Sheridan’s Civic Theater Guild announced auditions for its production, Steel Magnolias, with sessions held on Dec. 16 and 17 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the WYO Performing Arts and Education Center above the Brundage Street exit. The cast seeks six women ages 25 or older without prepared material.  Sheridan Media
  • Sheridan Community Land Trust moved Ol’ 115 from its spot on Highby Road to the Big Goose Natural Area and featured the streetcar’s preservation plans during the Explore History Program on Tuesday, Dec. 9 at the Hub on Smith. The free event will repeat on Tuesday, Dec. 16 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Tongue River Valley Community Center in Dayton.  Sheridan Media

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Wyoming Game & Fish Department confirmed chronic wasting disease in Elk Hunt Area 2 in the Sheridan Region, marking its first detection in the area as officials continue testing local herds.  The Sheridan Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is asking hunters to complete their harvest surveys to help set future hunting rules + those who finish by Jan. 31 will enter a drawing for donated outdoor gear.  Sheridan Media
  • The Sheridan Economic and Education Development Authority is considering a full-time position to manage its growing $25 million in assets and bolster local business growth — a working group may propose changes by its spring meeting in April.  Sheridan Media

SPORTS NEWS

  • Sheridan Recreation District will host the Semi-regional tournament featuring 39 teams of youth from Montana, South Dakota, and Wyoming on Dec. 13—14. More than 400 players, families and coaches are expected to visit, boosting local businesses with over $300,000 in spending; tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for youth and seniors each day.  Sheridan Media
