  • On Tuesday, Dec. 2, community members voiced strong support at the Sheridan County commissioners meeting for the proposed Big Horn Recreation and Early Learning Center, which is expected to ease safety concerns and improve preschool access; commissioners approved the project by a 3+2 vote.  Sheridan Media
  • A 2025 report from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism shows that two print newspapers close each week nationwide, raising concerns about the future of local news.   • The Sheridan County YMCA has planned Swishmas Showdown, a basketball skills event to keep kids active during Christmas break. Executive Director Liz Cassiday said the contest will offer friendly indoor competition+ help children stay fit as families travel.  Sheridan Media

  • 78 Sheridan County School District 1 students participated in a mock interview event—practicing life skills during interviews and breakout sessions.  The Sheridan Press

  • Wyoming Game and Fish invites public comments on proposed black bear season changes until 5 p.m. Dec. 8 (following a public meeting on Dec. 1 at the Sheridan Regional Office) with input to be considered before the January meeting in Cheyenne.  Sheridan Media

SPORTS NEWS

  • Sheridan WYO Rodeo personnel received top honors from the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and earned selections for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas that begins today. Executive Director Zane Garstad said board members are attending the National PRCA Convention while the rodeo runs until Dec. 13.  Sheridan Media
