  • Local hunters now hire helicopter pilots to access landlocked public lands, and ranchers say the chopper flights disrupt their work. David Faubion organized three fly-in hunts since early 2024 (with pilot Tony Chambers) as the debate over public access continues.  Cowboy State Daily
  • Kendrick Mansion hosts its annual Holiday Open House December 5-7 (4:00-7:00 p.m.), where local volunteers offer live music, figgy pudding, hot cider, festive decorations, and a visit from Father Christmas; adults pay $4 and children enter free with an adult.  Sheridan Media

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • As winter drives begin in Sheridan and Johnson Counties, Wyoming Highway Patrol Captain Erik Jorgensen advises drivers to prepare vehicles, allow extra travel time, and know their personal limits — a reminder that weather-related crashes nationally cause nearly 900 fatalities and about 76,000 injuries each year.  Sheridan Media

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • At a recent Board meeting, Sheridan College President Dr. Walter Tribley said the Science Center renovation, estimated at $27 million with 45% local funding, may not receive state support after Governor Mark Gordon omitted it in his budget recommendation + he warned delays will increase costs ahead of the legislative session starting Feb. 9.  Sheridan Media
  • On Dec. 3, Governor Mark Gordon signed a proclamation naming Dec. 7 as Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day to honor those who served. The Wyoming National Guard will help observe the day across the state.  Wyoming News Now

SPORTS NEWS

  • Tour de Wyoming is preparing for its 2026 six-day route — covering 406 miles on paved roads through the Bighorn Basin and into Montana — with cyclists departing Powell on July 12 after a February lottery selection for 250 spots.  Cowboy State Daily
