COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On November 11, the Clearmont Historical Group held its annual Veterans Day program at Clear Creek Valley Veterans Memorial and collected donations for the Civil Air Patrol Youth program—CHG donated $500 to support youth training in aerospace and military service. Jacob Carvalho played taps in honor of fallen veterans while CHG President Robert Prusak explained the history behind the day.  Sheridan Media
  • Sheridan Community Land Trust received $25,000 in GPET funds from the City for the fiscal year that began July 1 — the funds are used for conservation easements and history programs — and has hosted 110 events with more than 3,500 attendees since July 1, 2024.  Sheridan Media
  • Sheridan College’s Holiday Swing will take place at Kinnison Hall—featuring performances by the Symphony Band, Jazz Ensemble, guest vocalist Marie Smith, violin soloist Alison Dooley, and Ivy Dillon from the Music Program along with a collaboration with the Sheridan County Youth Choir. Dr. Eric Richards urges music lovers to reserve their seats for Friday Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. and Saturday Dec. 6 at 4 p.m.—donations for residents in need will be accepted at the door.  Sheridan Media
  • Mountain Warriors RC, a veteran service group that rides motorcycles for therapy, will provide free Thanksgiving and Christmas day dinners in Sheridan to help veterans. The organization announced the dinners to support local service members.  The Sheridan Press

CULTURE NEWS

  • The WYO Performing Arts and Education Center will show Warren Miller Entertainment's 76th film SNO-CIETY at 7 p.m. Nov. 25 at the WYO Theater to celebrate snowy culture and community sports. The film will share stories of skiers and riders and is sponsored by the Antelope Butte Foundation with tickets at $16 for adults and $13 for students.  Sheridan Media
  • Sheridan College is hosting a free chamber music performance Nov. 16 at 4 p.m. that will feature Winds of the Bighorns plus Sheridan College Flute Choir, Early Music Ensemble, and Piano Quartet.  The Sheridan Press

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Sheridan County School District 3 staff met with legislators on Tuesday in a listening session to talk about teacher pay as the legislative session nears. The session allowed staff to share concerns and ideas about fair compensation—setting the stage for future budget discussions.  The Sheridan Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Wyoming Game and Fish Department will hold a public meeting at 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 1 at the Sheridan Regional Office—wildlife managers will review proposed black bear hunting season dates, annual female mortality limits, and adjustments while accepting public comments until Dec. 8.  Sheridan Media
