GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Wyoming Game and Fish Department sent out its annual harvest survey starting Oct. 16 asking roughly 70,000 antelope, deer, and elk hunters to share their season details — the feedback guides future quotas and season dates — and those who complete the survey by Jan. 31 will be entered in a drawing for prizes.  Sheridan Media
  • Due to the federal shutdown, the Wyoming Department of Family Service paused new applications for the Low Income Energy Assistance Program for the 2025-2026 heating season effective Oct. 15—DFS will not approve any new requests until Congress passes a spending bill and funding is restored.  Sheridan Media
  • Wyoming’s Public Service Commission and industrial electric consumers filed appeals in Denver against a ruling that Rocky Mountain Power customers owe $23.5M—this decision, issued last September by Judge Kelly Rankin, is being contested over how costs for a 30% rate increase were allocated between in-state and other customers. The appeal will delay any immediate changes to customer rates while the dispute is resolved.  Cowboy State Daily
