- ➤ The Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce welcomed new member Fear and Loathing Where the Buffalo Roam during an Ambassadors’ ribbon cutting on Oct. 10. The artist cooperative — started by sculptural artist Hunter Quarterman and located at 456 N. Sheridan Ave — helps rising artists sell their work. Sheridan Media
- ➤ At the Sheridan Community Land Trust event at the Hub on Smith, Museum Director Carrie Edinger explained how Edward A. Whitney arrived in Sheridan in 1885 and helped shape the town’s growth through his investments and creation of Wyoming’s first educational foundation—his legacy includes a college fund and a preview of his personal collection soon to be displayed. The program will repeat on Tuesday, October 21 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon at the Tongue River Valley Community Center in Dayton and is free to attend. Sheridan Media

- ➤ The R3 Sound Stage on Lake DeSmet will host a metal band night when Hel Hath Fury and Chemo perform on Friday, Oct. 17 at 8 p.m. Dinner will be served during the event. The Sheridan Press
- ➤ The Brinton Museum staff will host Haunted Ranch on the historic Quarter Circle A ranch—formerly known as Things That Go Bump in the Night—to offer a spooky experience for local guests. The Sheridan Press
- ➤ On Public Pulse, WYO Performing Arts and Education Center Executive Director Erin Butler and cast members AJ Longhurst and Jacob Sullivan discussed plans for the upcoming WYO Theater Premiere of Hello, Dolly! in Sheridan—doors will open at 6 p.m. and the curtain will rise at 7 p.m. Longhurst, who first acted in the play 25 years ago, said he never imagined playing Horace Vandergelder, and Sullivan said he draws inspiration for his role from unexpected sources. - ➤ The Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce welcomed the Sheridan Public Arts Committee at a ribbon cutting Tuesday, Oct. 14— the committee works to promote and select sculpture art for the city. Sheridan Media

- ➤ Acting Out! returns through a partnership between WYO PLAY and Sheridan County School District 2, offering after-school residencies at five elementary schools where students learn acting and create plays. Students at Meadowlark and Sagebrush Elementary are preparing to perform The Smart Alec’s Sleeping Beauty on Oct. 21 and Oct. 23— a playful retelling with unexpected twists. Sheridan Media
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Wyoming Game and Fish Department confirmed chronic wasting disease in Elk Hunt Area 116 when an adult elk tested positive—this disease is 100% fatal to infected deer, elk and moose and officials will keep monitoring the area. City of Sheridan
- ➤ A Wyoming Administration and Information report said state park visits dropped 4.9% in 2024—current trends show these sites are attracting more visitors. The Sheridan Press
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Sheridan Police are urging parents to use National Teen Driving Safety Week from Oct. 19—25 to help young drivers learn safe habits and reduce risks. The department noted that teen drivers are nearly four times more likely to be in fatal crashes and Wyoming ranks high for speeding fatalities—making careful driving essential. Sheridan Media
