COMMUNITY NEWS

  • About two weeks ago, workers poured the first section of a new pathway along US Highway 14 from Ranchester to Dayton. The project—covering 0.8 miles from Ranchester to Echo Drive—will be maintained all year, though no timeline has been set for the remaining phases.  Sheridan Media

CULTURE NEWS

  • Tickets went on sale Oct. 1 for the Natural History Museum Fundraising Gala, which will be held at 5 p.m. on December 1 at the Ramada Convention Center at 1809 Sugarland Drive. The event will include a social hour, dinner, speaker, live auction, and entertainment—supporting museum programs.  Sheridan Media

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in Wyoming dropped by 3.1 cents per gallon to $2.99 on Monday, as GasBuddy surveyed 494 stations—indicating a recent decrease in cost across the state.  Wyoming Tribune Eagle

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Sheridan City Council approved Ordinance 2296 to rezone 1.78 acres at 1140 Coffeen Avenue from the B-1 Business District to the M-1 Industrial District during Monday night's meeting. The change addresses a zoning violation noted in fall 2024 before the liquor license renewal period, explained City Planner Kelly Schroeder.  Sheridan Media
  • Sheridan County Commissioners unanimously denied the Belish’s request to remove a condition on the Ferro Minor Conservation Design Subdivision. County Planner Mark Reid explained the condition and its timeline—leaving the involved parties to resolve the matter independently.  Sheridan Media
  • Wyoming Hunger Initiative — launched in 2019 as First Lady Jennie Gordon’s signature project — will become an independent organization as it transitions from its role under the Governor’s Residence Foundation.  The Sheridan Press

HEALTH NEWS

  • Dementia Friendly of Wyoming at The Hub has seen a sharp rise in its support programs as more Baby Boomers and local residents access services for brain change. The initiative — developed with partners like Alzheimer’s Association Wyoming, Wyoming AARP, and the local health department — works to improve early diagnosis and care for families.  Sheridan Media
  • The Sheridan Veterans Affairs Health Care System team is holding walk-in flu clinics—enrolled veterans are encouraged to visit their local VA clinics for flu care.  The Sheridan Press

  • Wyoming residents show homeownership rates nearly 90 percent higher than Americans in other states (recent reports show) and the state ranks among the top nationwide for owning homes.  Casper Star-Tribune

  • Sign-ups for Learn to Skate classes at Whitney Rink in the M&M’s Center will open in early October, with in-person registration on October 8 & 9 from 3-6 p.m. The sessions run from November 1 to December 17 and will use separate forms for youth and adult participants.  Sheridan Media
