EDUCATION NEWS

  • SCSD#2 will hold a meeting at Sheridan Junior High School on Oct 8 from 6 to 7 p.m. (Library Materials Selection and Access) where staff and community members will give feedback on the new school book policy and share their views on which library materials should be kept or removed.  Sheridan Media

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Wyoming Grants Management Office will host a free 90-minute Wildfire Recovery Webinar on October 8 at 10 AM for landowners, homeowners, business owners, and nonprofits—even if federal agency partners do not join. The webinar will offer interactive presentations on wildfire recovery grants and provide key information on restoration efforts.  City of Sheridan
  • The Convention of States town hall meeting will be held in Sheridan on October 22nd at 6:30 p.m. at the Ramada Plaza, where speakers Mark Meckler and Rick Green will explain how Article V offers a remedy to limit federal overreach — a plan promoted by COS Action. Attendees will learn how the meeting aims to build support for the resolution as efforts continue across the nation.  Sheridan Media

HEALTH NEWS

  • Sheridan Memorial Hospital spent over $4 million to buy 55% of the Sheridan Surgical Center on West 5th Street yesterday — Hospital CEO Mike McCafferty said the move will let the hospital work with surgical specialists while keeping strong community ties.  City of Sheridan
  • Mandie Asay—a respected music teacher from Cowley—remains in a Billings hospital ICU after a blood thinner caused a pulmonary embolism; her family says she is slowly progressing while her return to teaching stays uncertain.  Cowboy State Daily

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Erin Galloway now runs the Our Wyoming Life YouTube channel and her cattle ranch after taking over the channel in 2024; she films daily tasks like herding cattle and harvesting squash to share her local food work with nearly 290,000 subscribers—showing how Wyoming agriculture ties the community together.
