ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is checking deer and elk for chronic wasting disease, known as CWD, using samples from hunters to learn its impact on the herds. The program will gather about 200 samples each from adult elk and male deer over a five-year cycle — hunters in select areas may drop off neck tissue during regular hours — and results come in about three weeks — which helps wildlife managers spot trends.  Sheridan Media
