COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ On September 21, ninety people joined the LX Bar ranch tour near Clearmont along the Powder River—visiting stone buildings and learning about early cattle care. Local landowners and Clearmont School bus drivers helped make the event possible. Sheridan Media
- ➤ Sheridan Community Land Trust will host a barbecue from noon to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 28, at the Aspen Trailhead at Red Grade Trails—celebrating the new Highlander Trail. The Sheridan Press
- ➤ Residents from Johnson and Sheridan counties are invited to a townhall community listening session in Sheridan to share concerns about local challenges. State representatives Mike Yin and Karlee Provenza are co-hosting the meeting and will gather community input to guide future actions. The Sheridan Press
- ➤ Antelope Butte Foundation works to give Sheridan families affordable outdoor fun at the recreation area—John DeVivo said free passes for youth have boosted participation with help from Vail and Boyne—and it plans future repairs to keep costs low. Sheridan Media
- ➤ Wyoming Housing Network Inc.—a nonprofit that has served for 20 years—is teaming with local groups to increase affordable housing for low-income families. Executive Director Melissa Noah said collaboration is key to solving the state’s housing shortfall with efforts reaching places like Sheridan. Casper Star-Tribune

- ➤ Born in a Barn is a two-day artisan show that will feature over 90 vendors — drawing thousands to Kinnison's ranch just a few miles east of Sheridan. Local small businesses will showcase their crafts as the market supports the region's creative economy. The Sheridan Press
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Museum at the Bighorns Director Carrie Edinger and Operations Manager Chip King said the museum’s front area is open to the public today while crews work on the larger back section to secure historical artifacts – new hours will be delayed until October. It will also join the Downtown Sheridan Association’s Main Street Monster Mash at 10 a.m. on Oct. 25. Sheridan Media
- ➤ On September 15, the Ucross Foundation added four new trustees to its board: Richard Davis of Sheridan, David Leuschen of Roscoe, Christian Nelson of Fredericksburg and Naoma Tate of Cody—each chosen for their skills and local ties. Board Chair Jesse Marion said the trustees will help guide Ucross as it supports artists and protects the land. Sheridan Media
- ➤ The Wyoming Arts Council is now accepting applications for the 2026 Neltje Blanchan Memorial Writing Award Inspired by Nature and the Frank Nelson Doubleday Memorial Writing Award. The council invites writers from across the state to submit creative entries that celebrate nature. The Sheridan Press
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Graduating seniors in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming are invited to apply for the Daniels Scholarship that can cover full college costs until October 17 at 4:00 p.m. Mountain Time. Finalists will be contacted in January and recipients announced in late March—after a brief personal interview process. Sheridan Media
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ This fall, hunters may see mule deer, elk, pronghorn, moose and bighorn sheep wearing collars that track wildlife habits for research on habitat use, survival and herd health (GPS-enabled devices). The Wyoming Game and Fish Department asks hunters to pass on collared animals and to notify a regional office (without damaging the collar) if one is harvested. Sheridan Media
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Wyoming Game and Fish Department announced that 2025 watercraft registrations will close in October as it prepares for the 2026 season—registrations will resume Nov. 1 at Game and Fish offices and online, with one-year registrations valid through 2026 and three-year registrations valid through 2028. - ➤ Sheridan City Council approved the final plat for the Outlaw Commercial Park subdivision—an 8.47-acre development divided into seven commercial lots at 1739 Brundage Lane. City Planner Kelly Schroeder said the project meets planning guidelines set by the Joint Land Use Plan—allowing City staff and Council to provide comments on future proposals. Sheridan Media
