- ➤ Sheridan City Councilmember Bev Leichtnam is asking local volunteers to join a national effort to clean and improve veterans’ resting places—this event will take place on Tuesday, Sept 23 at a new location. Sheridan Media

- ➤ The Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting on Sept. 12 at the new location of 307 Auto Glass (specializing in auto glass repair and replacement) at 111 W. 16th St. Local Chamber Ambassadors (Judy Ford, Ginny Rieger, and Nancy Herdt) led the event. Sheridan Media

- ➤ At its Sept. 15 meeting, the Sheridan County School District 2 Board unanimously approved five policies for first reading and removed one policy. The Sheridan Press
- ➤ The SCSD#2 Board of Trustees met Monday night, September 15 with a light agenda that featured Superintendent Scott Stults’s update on the back-to-school event and funding model adjustments—community feedback and staff reports were discussed. The board approved isolation payments for three families and set the next meeting for Oct. 6 at 6 p.m. Sheridan Media

- ➤ Wyoming trees are showing bright fall colors early, and aspens in high places will likely peak by this weekend. Experts say visitors should plan soon—weather may change quickly and the short window will not last long. Cowboy State Daily

- ➤ The Hub on Smith in Sheridan is set to upgrade its parking lot at a total cost of $3.2 million—$1.923 million in matching funds have been secured. City council approved a resolution Monday night to apply for a $1.277 million Community Development Block Grant after a $1 million grant was denied. Sheridan Media
- ➤ Matt Korda, a nuclear watchdog from the Federation of American Scientists, visited F. E. Warren Air Force Base to discuss how Wyoming will lead a $141 billion upgrade by replacing Minuteman III missiles with new Sentinel missiles. The base will add 18 new communications towers—300 feet tall—and support off-base projects to guide similar upgrades at other bases. Cowboy State Daily
- ➤ The city of Sheridan accepted a roadway safety grant to find ways to make streets safer in coming months — city officials will study ideas and choose improvements based on the grant. The Sheridan Press
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Yesterday, the Johnson County Healthcare Center walk-in clinic in Sheridan reported 1,432 visits in July with 40 new patients and provided care for 385 walk-in patients plus 150 local athletes at special sports physical events. The clinic completed a remodeled hallway on August 18 and tentatively scheduled three drive-through flu shot clinics from mid-September through October — efforts that aim to boost health services for residents. - ➤ Sheridan Memorial Hospital is working to secure funding from the One Big Beautiful Bill Act that will use the Rural Health Transformation Program to support rural hospitals (allocating $10-billion per fiscal year from 2026 to 2030). The hospital CEO said their current plans align with key areas such as innovation, care, technology, behavioral health, and workforce development while states must submit detailed transformation plans to CMS by the end of this calendar year.
