- ➤ In 1931, a 20-year-old Sheridan woman drove 1,131 miles from Berlin to Moscow with two young German men—she slept in haystacks, foraged for food, and met both kind and unfriendly people along rough roads—launching a life full of bold adventures. Cowboy State Daily
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ In 1888, Sheridan County built its first jail at Burkitt and Whitney on the southwest corner to house two steel jail cells—early bids were rejected for having cell sizes that were too small—Geo. Brundage’s accepted bid of $1,387 led to a jail that served until a new facility was built in 1913. Sheridan Media
- ➤ Sheridan County commissioners will consider a FY 2024-25 budget amendment #2 and issues including establishing Penrose County Road, vacation of Rapid Creek Road, an equipment use agreement, license and lease agreements, and the Gillespie Draw Conservation Design Subdivision at a meeting on Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. in the Second Floor Board Room of the Sheridan County Courthouse Addition—the public is welcome to attend. - ➤ A federal judge ruled in favor of PacifiCorp and Rocky Mountain Power—finding that the state should have allowed a higher rate increase that may lead to more charges for Wyoming customers in the future. Casper Star-Tribune
- ➤ The Lake DeSmet Advisory Board will meet on Wednesday, September 17 at 1 p.m. in the Johnson County Commission Meeting Room to review updates on North End Access and shoreline improvements plus discuss private docks and an agreement with Wyoming Game and Fish plus county water rights and a report on the lake.
