- ➤ The Sheridan County YMCA now offers the YMCA Kid’s Climbing Club for kids to learn climbing skills and safety with full equipment in monthlong sessions. - ➤ The Sheridan Dog and Cat Shelter now offers microchipping during its vaccination clinics to help lost pets return home—owners may choose to have a small chip implanted during the exam and then follow online registration instructions, with the final clinic on Sept 26. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A small plane crashed near Dayton on Monday at 4:57 p.m., killing 13-year-old Amelia Palmer and injuring her brother, 11, and her parents as federal investigators and local agencies study the cause — pilot Earl Palmer, who has faced past crashes, now requires major reconstructive surgeries — while the family begins a long recovery. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Charissa Carver, a 41-year-old from Sheridan, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor battery on April 8 at an apartment on East Brundage Lane and received a suspended 90-day jail sentence with six months of unsupervised probation — a plea that dismissed a related felony charge — while Anya Fritz and Craig Sadler, charged respectively with a knife threat and drug possession on April 20, have sentencing hearings set for December 2 and December 4.
