ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On September 1 at about 4:57 p.m., a 1965 Piper 828 flown by Earl Palmer left Sheridan County Airport for Boise and crashed in the Bighorn Mountains—killing 13-year-old Amelia Palmer while investigators with the NTSB and FAA examined the scene, with 54-year-old Earl Palmer and 53-year-old Cindy Palmer receiving treatment and 11-year-old Aeron Palmer returning home. - ➤ State Historic Site staff invite those interested in history to tour LX Bar Ranch on September 21 starting at 9 a.m. from Clearmont; visitors will ride a bus to explore the ranch’s sandstone main house and other historic outbuildings—tickets cost $20 and capacity is limited to 45 people. - ➤ Writers Grace and Ian Cannon-Wallace discussed their new Dinosaur Rock Musical on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse, which aired at 9:06 a.m. on September 4 on 930 KROE and 103.9 FM. The musical — featuring rock hits reworked with dinosaur-themed lyrics and performances by the Young Theatre Makers Ensemble — will be staged at the WYO Performing Arts and Education Center on Sept. 6 and Sept. 7 with educational activities from local partners. - ➤ Today, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department urges hunters to exercise extra care with campfires and avoid active or recently burned areas due to high wildfire risk under National Preparedness Level 4—fire bans are in effect and violators may face steep fines. Sheridan Media

- ➤ The Sheridan City Council approved the first reading of a rezoning ordinance on September 3 to allow Derby Club to conduct pari-mutuel wagering by changing 1.78 acres from the B-1 to the M-1 zone—City Planner Kelly Schroeder said the Future Land Use Map shows the area can support a broader mix of commercial uses. - ➤ Sheridan County Commission approved negotiations with SWCA Environmental Consultants to revise its Community Wildfire Protection Plan using $132,000 from the Wyoming Office of State Lands and Investments Forestry Division—County Administrative Director Cameron Duff noted that this approval sets the stage for future contract discussions, and County Fire Warden Chris Thomas recommended SWCA over Y2 Consultants.
