  • Sheridan residents can join Landon’s Fall Fest Farmer’s Market on Saturday, Sept.6 from 9 a.m. to noon and continue their day with Rootstock from noon to 3 p.m.—a community meal featuring live music, catering by Olha’s Market, local beer, a $30 ticket with an exclusive Rootstock shirt, and donations matched by the Standish Family Fund as announced by Rooted in Wyoming's Executive Director David Johnson and Landon’s Greenhouse's General Manager Keith Kershaw.  Sheridan Media

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Monday, September 1, 2025, a single-engine plane crashed near Big Mountains in the Bighorn National Forest—killing a 13-year-old girl and seriously injuring three family members (an 11-year-old boy, a 54-year-old man, and a 53-year-old woman)—as rescue crews and the FAA responded to the scene and began their investigation.  Sheridan Media
  • A plane crashed in Bighorn National Forest Monday, killing 13-year-old Amelia Palmer and injuring three family members who were airlifted to hospitals — rescue teams and the FAA are investigating the single-engine Piper Cherokee that left Sheridan County Airport and flew west of Big Mountain.  Cowboy State Daily

CULTURE NEWS

  • Wyoming Historical Society will host its annual conference in Sheridan from Sept. 12—14.  The Sheridan Press
  • The Neltje Center is hosting an outdoor concert on Saturday, Sept. 13, where 90 award-winning University of Wyoming Music Department students and faculty will perform Copland’s 'Hoedown,' tangos, Latin favorites, and Gershwin works against the backdrop of the Bighorn Mountains — guests should bring a picnic blanket or camp chair and can enjoy free food with a cash bar.  Sheridan Media

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Yesterday, the Wyoming Department of Education announced that student scores on state tests improved by one to three percent with English reaching pre-pandemic levels and science beating them while math stayed close—local results showed one Sheridan district above state averages and another with 10th grade English below average. This update reflects statewide improvements and mixed local performance that will guide future school changes.  City of Sheridan
  • Tongue River Middle School robotics team is starting a new season and needs a second assistant coach—TRMS Science teacher Susie Fisher said the team of about 15 or 16 students will begin competing on September 22 and interested candidates must apply online.  City of Sheridan

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Wyoming Department of Transportation announced it will lower the speed limit along WYO 336 east of Sheridan from 70 to 50 mph to address safety concerns noted in a traffic study for the Story House Development – the new limit covering mile markers 1.52 to 2.43 will take effect the week of September 8. This change aims to manage increased traffic and improve sight distances at a sharp curve and skewed intersection.  Sheridan Media
