CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Mervin Bishop, 27, pleaded guilty Tuesday to felony theft, misdemeanor reckless driving and fleeing or attempting to elude an officer in Sheridan—he accepted a plea deal that imposes 180 days in jail with three years of supervised probation after his release and awaits sentencing on December 2 at 9 a.m. City of Sheridan
- ➤ A 21-year-old Sheridan man led police on a high-speed chase Tuesday after he eluded officers on Brundage Lane, Big Horn Avenue — North Main Street. The Sheridan Press

- ➤ The Sheridan Community Land Trust invites locals to explore artifacts—shared from the Museum at the Bighorns’ collection—and learn about the history along Big Goose Creek at the free Explore History event scheduled soon. Sheridan Media
- ➤ Today, Sheridan College hosts Music on the Mall with live performances by The Patti Fiasco + The Alley Kats and The Craft Brothers starting at 4 p.m. The event runs until 8 p.m. at Whitney Mall with arts and crafts vendors, food, local beverages, and frontwoman Alysia Kraft promising an energetic show for local fans. ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Sheridan County's unemployment dropped from 3.6% in June to 2.5% in July while Johnson County's rate fell from 3.0% to 2.2%; seasonal job gains in construction + leisure and hospitality helped keep Wyoming’s overall rate steady at 3.3%. - ➤ Director Amy Long said the Sheridan County Library System recorded its highest summer reading numbers with more children signing up than last year's 550 and even greater participation this year. Youth Services Manager Zola Shockley and Community Engagement Manager Cassie Stone boosted the program by joining local events — 3rd Thursday, CHAPS Tournament of Knights and the Bighorn Collective Arts Festival — to gather community support. - ➤ The Wyoming Game and Fish Department reminded hunters and outdoor recreationists to stay bear-wise during hunting season—using bear spray, staying alert to signs, and keeping clean camps to lower the risk of encounters.
