COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A new sign at the Big Goose Natural Area now shows the actual wingspans of local birds—built by the Sheridan Community Land Trust with help from local artists and community partners.  Sheridan Media
  • Black Tooth Brewing Company in Sheridan will hold Pint Night on Thursday at 4 p.m.—each pint sold will send $1 to benefit Sheridan Area Search and Rescue, and President Mike Boehrer said donations will cover 36 to 40 percent of the group’s operating budget.  Sheridan Media

CRIME NEWS

  • Mervin Bishop, a 27-year-old man, changed his plea Tuesday in Sheridan’s Fourth Judicial District Court—he pleaded guilty to felony theft, misdemeanor reckless driving, and misdemeanor fleeing or attempting to elude an officer with sentencing set for December 2 at 9 a.m.  Sheridan Media
  • A 16-year-old Gillette teen named Forbes was bound over to Natrona County court on six felony charges after he allegedly stole cars, guns, and committed a home invasion in Casper late on Aug 16 and early Aug 17—Sheridan and Gillette police are investigating thefts linked to his crime spree.  Cowboy State Daily

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Sheridan City Council will vote on whether to dissolve the Northeast Wyoming Growth Alliance (formed nearly 10 years ago) as part of a review of local growth strategies.  The Sheridan Press
  • On August 26, 2025, Sheridan County approved an agreement with the Wyoming Office of Homeland Security to fund the Sheridan Warning System Project through a Hazard Mitigation Grant Program—totaling just under $48,000 with a county match of about $12,000. County Emergency Management Coordinator Jesse Ludikhuize said the project will enhance post-fire safety measures, though exact monitor locations were not disclosed.  City of Sheridan

HEALTH NEWS

  • Hannah Edwards of the Sheridan Dog and Cat Shelter and Marian Eccles of Unleashed Foundation told Public Pulse that a kennel cough outbreak has halted adoptions and surrenders as dogs show signs like a harsh dry cough — families are advised to wait until symptoms subside before adopting a pet.  Sheridan Media
  • West Nile virus was first detected in mosquitos in Sheridan County in July, and more infected mosquitos with equine cases in Johnson County have raised health concerns. Sheridan County Public Health and the Weed and Pest Control District urge residents to apply larvicide to standing water and follow mosquito safety steps – Dump, Drain, Dress, DEET, Dusk/Dawn.  Sheridan Media
