- ➤ On August 20, Sharie Shada led an after-hours White Gloves Tour at the Kendrick Mansion where guests saw hidden rooms and artifacts not normally open—revealing secrets of the historic building. The sold-out tour will return next summer. City of Sheridan
- ➤ The Sheridan Community Land Trust is hosting a free Plein Air Sketching Discovery Session led by Randy Stout at SCLT Big Goose Natural Area, 14 Lane Ln, on Thursday, Sept. 4 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.—participants should bring drawing utensils and a lawn chair or blanket since free sketchbooks will be provided. - ➤ Wyoming educators told lawmakers on Thursday to create a new literacy department in the Department of Education to help students with dyslexia and other reading problems. The bill draft calls for new screening tests and reading support programs—lawmakers will discuss the plan again in November in Cheyenne. Casper Star-Tribune
- ➤ Layla Luna and Robert Judy of Just Bee led an autism training program for first responders in Sheridan on August 21—backed by REACH and attended by Police Chief Travis Koltiska—to help improve safety during encounters with autistic individuals. Sheridan Media
