- ➤ The Sheridan Civic Theatre Guild will perform Twelve Angry Men next month at the Carriage House Theater. The play shows 12 jurors debating a murder trial and runs from Sept. 12 to 14, Sept. 19 to 21, and Sept. 26 to 28, with tickets costing $20 for adults and $15 for seniors, military, and students. ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Workforce Services data shows Sheridan County added 281 jobs in Q1 while Johnson County lost 51 jobs. Gains in Sheridan came from local government plus leisure, retail, manufacturing and professional services. Sheridan Media
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Sheridan College will celebrate the start of the school year on Thursday, August 28 at Whitney Mall at Sheridan College by hosting Music on the Mall from 4 to 8 p.m.—the event will feature a bouncy house, arts and crafts vendors, local food, beverages and live performances from The Alley Kats, The Craft Brothers and The Patti Fiasco. - ➤ On August 19, the SCSD#1 Board of Trustees met and Chairman Clint Krumm introduced the new mission statement — Empowering Learners, Enriching Lives — while Kendra Barney presented an Early Childhood Education program and noted the shortage of licensed childcare centers in Sheridan. The board also approved policies including a memorandum of understanding with the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office and a $.25 increase in lunch prices for students in grades 6-12. Sheridan Media
- ➤ Sheridan County 4H students benefited from a Wyoming State Fair experience (a tradition spanning over 120 years) where they competed in livestock, crafts and other contests with peers from 23 counties. - ➤ Sheridan County Commissioners accepted the de-annexation Impact Report on August 20 and directed the chairman to sign it—County Planner Mark Reid said water rights will be handled in the subdivision process. City of Sheridan
- ➤ Sheridan Police Department Captain Tom Ringley spoke on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse about how his team works to keep schools safe by assigning Lieutenant James Hill as a liaison and having Officer Megan Phillips serve as the School Resource Officer.
