- ➤ Author Caitee Cooper grew up in Wyoming, loved the outdoors, and battled depression which helped her create the Portlock fantasy series. She will soon release the final book with help from local businesses and fans via Kickstarter—she is also working on a spin-off set in Yellowstone that will mix fantasy with romance. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Officials reported that the beaver population in the Bighorn National Forest dropped from 171 in 2010 to 63 in 2021, prompting the construction of over 150 artificial beaver dams—structures that mimic natural dams. The Wyoming Game and Fish Department and the U.S. Forest Service are reintroducing beavers and improving riparian habitats to help restore the ecosystem. Cowboy State Daily
