COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Sheridan Community Land Trust is calling on volunteers to clean up the Historic Huson Homestead on Saturday, August 23 from 9 a.m. to noon, where volunteers will board windows, secure the door, whack weeds, and do light maintenance (3581 US Highway 14-16, two miles north of Clearmont).  Sheridan Media
  • The Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for the 30th Annual Christmas Stroll with the theme '30 Years of Strolling' for 2025 and will announce a winning button design in a few months — the Chamber also plans to reward shoppers wearing a Stroll Button with Chamber Bucks on Stroll Day and each Saturday through Christmas.  Sheridan Media

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On August 14, A/C School held its first One Claw House Party as a back-to-school celebration with food, music, and community fun; DJ Mike Guyer played music while Superintendent Chase Christensen fried hamburgers. The event also introduced new elementary houses House Koa and House Meraki and featured a gym mural showing house crests and sports stats.  Sheridan Media
  • Sheridan Police Chief Travis Koltiska shared safety tips for children walking to school, urging parents to walk new routes with their kids and follow rules like using marked crossings and looking left—right—left before stepping off the curb. He advised families to use sidewalks when available, wear bright clothing in low light, and contact school districts for further safety resources.  City of Sheridan

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Jessen Wheat Company in southeastern Wyoming—eleven miles north of Pine Bluffs—is adopting regenerative farming practices to restore its dry, windy plains and give back to the land.  Wyoming Tribune Eagle
  • Smoke moved into Sheridan County skies early Thursday and is expected to linger through the weekend as active wildfires continue in the state.  The Sheridan Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The city council and School District 2 board will vote today on extending the Sheridan Recreation District agreement— a program that has offered active opportunities for local youth over the last 50 years. The vote will shape the future of these recreational services for families in our community.  The Sheridan Press
  • The Sheridan County Commission approved Resolution No. 25-08-020 for the county’s application for 2026 CMAQ funding to support a dust mitigation program, and Engineer Ken Muller outlined the program details.  City of Sheridan
  • Wyoming lawmakers met with technology experts on July 15 to review why some constituent emails were labeled as junk and never reached their legislators—causing many voices to be lost. The subcommittee explained that bulk messages sent to several officials are blocked and now state leaders must decide whether to fix the email system or let it continue.  Cowboy State Daily
