- ➤ At Sheridan County Youth Livestock Sale on August 4, young stockgrowers auctioned 194 lots and raised about $684—thousand while buyers spent $65—thousand more than last year despite 24 fewer sales. They used the funds to support ranch work, pursue education, or reinvest in future livestock ventures. City of Sheridan
- ➤ The Big Horn Baseball Club has raised about 71% of the $6.5M plus goal to build a 33,000 square foot indoor recreation and early learning center behind the high school football press box. Organizers said they will break ground in winter or spring and complete the facility in 2027 to give local children a dedicated space. Sheridan Media

- ➤ About 200 people visited the Natural History Museum of Wyoming open house held on August 6 at Sheridan College's Mohns Center where dinosaur bones and other fossils were on display. Museum director Tom Hebert said the event showed strong community support and featured a Gem and Mineral Club meeting with a speaker (the museum is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.). - ➤ The Collective Arts Festival will be held at Whitney Commons in downtown Sheridan on Saturday, August 9 from 12:30—6:30 p.m. Famed bluegrass trio Damn Tall Buildings will headline the free event that will also offer live music, art workshops, an artisan village and interactive activities for children. - ➤ The second annual Collective Arts Festival organized by the Wyo Theater will take place this Saturday at Whitney Commons—performers include the Buffalo Little Big Band, Crown Summer featuring Emmet Craft, James Craft and Kellin Medill, the Sheridan County Youth Choir, La Sirene, the Oliver Jr. and Dino Rock Musical and headliner Damn Tall Buildings. - ➤ The Wyoming Game and Fish Department will host a women-only hunter education course at The Hub on Smith Street on Friday August 22 from 6 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday, August 23 and 24 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.; there is no age limit, but children 12 and under must attend with a parent or guardian and students must complete every session and pass a test to earn their certificate (registration is online on a first-come basis). - ➤ The Sheridan County Board of County Commissioners approved a new subdivision (1.3 miles northeast of Ranchester) despite concerns about increased traffic and density from nearby property owners. The Sheridan Press
- ➤ The Sheridan County Commission approved a Conditional Use Permit to operate an outdoor commercial recreational paintball facility and first-responder training platform at 805 State Highway 338 (Decker Road) on an 85+ acre property. The permit includes four conditions that require shielded exterior lighting, proper waste management, WYDOT highway access improvements and signage, and county building permits for future modifications.
