  • On Friday, the Johnson County Fair held Youth Rodeo Day with a pie contest and arena events. Today the fair offers a pancake breakfast, Klondike Rush 5K/10K, a rodeo parade, rodeo, and Junior Livestock Sale while Sunday will feature a rodeo and Dog Race finals.  City of Sheridan

  • Sheridan County Sheriff Levi Dominguez warned today about scam emails that look like they come from PayPal—recent reports to his office show the scam, which circulated in past years, is reappearing.  Sheridan Media

  • Sheridan County schools will begin the new school year soon—students and teachers are expected to return to class.  The Sheridan Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Mark Gordon signed an executive order yesterday — aiming to improve forest health and reduce wildfire risk across Wyoming.  Wyoming Tribune Eagle
  • On July 31, WYDOT updated its Buffalo Main Street project, noting that traffic on South Main at the Cemetery Creek Culvert is detoured to the east so motorists must go slowly (the detour has a dip and curve) while pedestrians avoid the route. South Main from the Bypass to Brock Street will be closed today from 8 a.m. until the end of the parade, which starts at Parmalee Street and turns west on Fort Street; epoxy work downtown is delayed while utility upgrades on North Main are expected to finish in the coming weeks.  City of Sheridan
  • The city council is set to vote on updates to the general purpose excise tax agreement that require organizations to include an explanation of public purpose—this change clarifies that GPET funds are only available after council approval.  The Sheridan Press
  • Senator Cynthia Lummis + Representative Harriet Hageman today introduced the Endangered Species Recovery Act in Washington, a bill that would rename the Endangered Species Act to better reflect its goal of recovering species and returning management control to local agencies.  Sheridan Media
