Good morning, Sheridan.

The YMCA offers several yoga formats during the week to help residents boost strength and relieve stress.
Sheridan Dog and Cat Shelter’s Sue Johnson and Liz Lande urged pet owners on Public Pulse to spay and neuter their animals to control the stray cat population, noting about 88 cats await adoption.
The shelter offers reduced-cost spay/neuter certificates for households earning under $35,000 + relies on donations and fundraisers to keep the program running.
The Brinton Museum opened its Summer Exhibition, Anatomy of Life and Land: Jacob Aguiar and Kathryn Mapes Turner on July 11 and held an opening reception on July 18 where about 50 visitors heard the artists discuss their inspiration from the local landscape; the exhibit will run until September 8 with all works available for sale.
Superintendent Charles Auzqui updated leadership roles at Johnson County School District #1 in his July report, noting that Dr. Michael Hanson continues at New West Alternative High while Mr. John Corbin will lead Meadowlark Elementary for the 2025-26 school year.
Other changes include returning principals at Cloud Peak Elementary and Clear Creek Middle School, new roles at Buffalo High and Kaycee K-12, and continued leadership in special education, curriculum, business management, and operations (transportation, facilities, food service, technology, and custodial services).
Sheridan Community Land Trust will host a free Discovery Session—Nativescapes for Your Home—at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 24 at 14 Lane Ln to teach residents how to design native Wyoming landscapes that support wildlife and conserve water using expert tips from Piney Island Native Plants and Piney Island Conservation Services.
Users of the Bighorn Mountains will see wildlife habitat improvements as Game and Fish works with Bighorn National Forest to clear encroaching coniferous trees from 1,000 acres along Little and Big Goose creeks and Highway 14.

Columnist Bill Sniffin recounted past RV trips through Wyoming, describing close calls on steep mountain passes, high winds that stalled him, and tight roads in Yellowstone that made driving a big rig a challenge—his stories show both the rewards and risks of life on the road.
His recollections stress that while RV travel offers freedom and the chance to see nature up close, it demands careful driving and constant alertness to weather and wildlife.
