  • Cassie Stone — community engagement manager at the Sheridan County Library System — said on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse that Wyoming had the highest library interaction per capita; in 2022, IMLS data showed 3.82 visits per person compared to Washington D.C.'s 3.78 visits.  Sheridan Media
  • The Wyoming Community Foundation’s Sheridan-Johnson Local Board awarded $80,000 in grants to nonprofit organizations in Sheridan and Johnson counties. The funds will help support critical projects at groups like Buffalo Children’s Center + Habitat for Humanity of the Eastern Bighorns as they meet local needs amid uncertainty.  Sheridan Media
  • On June 25, at a pageant for the Sheridan WYO Rodeo, Isabella Yellowtail was named Queen and Novalee Anderson was named Junior Princess to represent next year. Yellowtail, who has won rodeo titles including the 2021 Crow Fair Rodeo Queen and Sheridan WYO Rodeo Senior Princess, and Anderson, a soon-to-be 5th grader from Tongue River Elementary, both come from families with a strong legacy in pageants.  Sheridan Media

CRIME NEWS

  • On June 25, 2025, a Sheridan man named Nathan Gainforth, 25, pleaded not guilty in Fourth Judicial District Court to charges of aggravated assault and battery and domestic battery after he allegedly threatened a woman with a box cutter and struck her face during an incident on May 21, and his three-day trial is set to begin on November 17 while his defense motion to lower a $20,000 cash-only bond was denied due to his criminal history.  City of Sheridan
  • A Sheridan man pleaded not guilty to aggravated assault and battery charges—his court hearing is set to continue in the coming days.  The Sheridan Press

CULTURE NEWS

  • Fort Phil Kearny will host the first summer program on July 2 at 6 p.m. where Abigail Zenner, who is Eastern Dakota, will present the Buffalo Calendar, Winter Counts in a free event hosted by the Fort Phil Kearny/Bozeman Trail Association — Bighorn National Forest and Fort Phil Kearny State Historic Site.  Sheridan Media

EDUCATION NEWS

  • University of Wyoming established the Stewart Family Professorship in Public Service to honor a Sheridan couple’s long record of public service, UW Director of Institutional Communications Chad Baldwin said. The new position will support students and faculty working on public service projects at the School of Politics, Public Affairs and International Studies.  Sheridan Media

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Wyoming Army National Guard opened its new $17.9 million maintenance shop in Sheridan on June 25, placing it next to the armory to replace the Lovell facility and now servicing vehicles from Worland and Casper—allowing more space for extra vehicles and training use in the Guernsey area.  City of Sheridan
  • Sheridan County approved a new public health preparedness grant and contract with the Wyoming Department of Health—County Administrative Director Cameron Duff said the agreement keeps the current work while making future work clear—.  Sheridan Media
