- ➤ AARP Wyoming announced that non-profit organizations in Sheridan, Clearmont and Thermopolis received four Community Challenge Grants totaling $31000 to improve community spaces and accessibility. Heritage Towers in Sheridan will use $4500 to turn unused concrete into a social area — while the Clearmont Historical Group will add sidewalks and update access at its historical center. - ➤ On June 18, the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce dedicated the Bob Giurgevich Victory Garden at the Sheridan VA Health Care System—named in honor of his longtime gardening contributions—with a ribbon cutting. The garden, built in partnership with Rooted in Wyoming and other community groups, features over 500 feet of ADA-accessible pathways, wood chip walkways and more than 30 raised beds filled with locally sourced soil for veterans. - ➤ The Sheridan WYO Rodeo Parade will be held on Friday, July 11 at 10 a.m. in downtown Sheridan with the theme 'Stars, Stripes, and Summer Nights.' Participants must enter by June 27 — registration is available online or by mail for local businesses and groups looking to attract a crowd of over 10,000. City of Sheridan

- ➤ On Tuesday, June 17, the Sheridan Community Land Trust Explore History program took place at the historic Big Red Complex at Ucross, which now serves as an artist’s foundation on a former large cattle ranch. President Caitlin Addlesperger explained that the 300-acre site—comprising the ranch house, art gallery, dance studio, and artists’ studios—forms part of a 20,000-acre property tied to local ranch history. - ➤ On June 18, a new mural titled 'The Riding on The Wall' was unveiled at the Woolworth Building in Sheridan with Mayor Rich Bridger, Dylan Crouse of Security State Bank, artists Joel Ostlind and Lisa Norman, and building owner Paul DelRossi speaking at the ceremony. The mural measures (10 feet by 66 feet), features weather-resistant paint, and was celebrated with live music and lunch. Sheridan Media

- ➤ Wyoming Superintendent of Public Instruction Megan Degenfelder is planning to pay out $6.44 million for school-choice accounts by giving private and homeschool funds starting with $1,750 per student on July 1 and has already approved 3,680 of 3,889 applicants. A judge will hold a hearing on June 27 in Cheyenne — the court may block the program — and Degenfelder said she will follow any order. Cowboy State Daily

- ➤ Sheridan County Commissioners Christi Haswell and Nick Siddle said on Public Pulse that they checked burn scars from the Remington, House Draw, and Elk fires for invasive grasses — fast-growing types like Ventenata, Medusahead, and Cheatgrass that may harm native plants and local grazing lands. Earlier, Weed and Pest Control warned that unchecked invasive grasses could damage local ecosystems and cost the state millions. Sheridan Media
- ➤ Sheridan Community Land Trust received a $15,000 gift from Powder River Basin Trout Unlimited Chapter to begin new stream habitat work at the SCLT Big Goose Natural Area, just outside Sheridan + crews will map 6,000 feet of Big Goose Creek to plan key restoration steps that will boost fish, wildlife and outdoor fun.
