- ➤ The WYO Theater and Bighorn Homebrew Club will present the Seventh Annual Untapped Homebrew Festival on Saturday, July 5 from noon to 4 p.m. on Brundage Street between Main and Brooks Streets. The event will feature 35 homebrewed beers from Sheridan and around Wyoming—live music by Big Horn Alphorns, Daniel and the Rats, We’re Here for the Beer Polka Band and Mark Paninos, barbecue from Rollin’ Smoke, and beer voting for winners of $250 cash prizes. - ➤ Arraignment proceedings for Robert Swaney, arrested on April 6 for burglary, conspiracy and interfering with a peace officer during vehicle break-ins near Sheridan, are suspended because his attorney requested a competency evaluation by Wyoming State Hospital—Judge Darci Phillips said the hearing will be rescheduled after the results. - ➤ The Wyoming Veterans Memorial Museum will open its new seasonal exhibit Hoofing It — an exhibit that shows military footwear from the 1890s through today — this summer. Local visitors can see how marching shoes have changed over time. The Sheridan Press

- ➤ Japanese scientists found that painting zebra stripes on cattle cuts biting flies by more than 50%—local ranchers say the method is too impractical since the paint washes off and proven chemical treatments work better for fly control. Cowboy State Daily

- ➤ The Wyoming Game and Fish Department asked the public not to approach, touch, or move fawns, calves, or baby birds because mothers leave them undisturbed for safety (no touching allowed). - ➤ Local fire officials have warned e-bike and scooter riders to check their lithium-ion batteries — officials said mishandled batteries can overheat and start fires. Councilman Luhman and Utilities Director Roberts advised residents to inspect regularly and recycle old batteries at designated drop-off points. Sheridan Media
- ➤ Wyoming lawmakers moved this week to raise taxes on online sports wagering and skill-based games so the state can capture a larger share of gambling revenue—current online wagering is taxed at 10% compared with an average rate of 19% elsewhere. Lawmakers also proposed adding an extra 1% tax on horse racing machines that could generate about $50 million to help fund highways. Casper Star-Tribune
