ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • The Sheridan Police Department is asking local residents to share any camera footage of the fatal incident at the intersection of North Main Street and West 5th Street, where a 66-year-old pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at 12:17 pm Wednesday and later pronounced dead at Sheridan Memorial Hospital; those with footage should contact SPD Sergeant Jon Snoozy (307) 672-2413.  Sheridan Media

CULTURE NEWS

  • On June 4, Museum at the Bighorns announced that Phase 1 of its relocation and expansion will open to the public on June 12 at 171 N. Main Street — featuring the main entrance and retail store — after its January sale of the 5th Street building.  Sheridan Media

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Sheridan now owns a 45.29 acre site for the next phase of its Hi-Tech Business Park and SEEDA has approved the design contract to guide its development. SEEDA Administrator Robert Briggs said the park will be ready sometime this winter and that its infrastructure is expected by late October — local businesses have already shown interest — with bids to be announced soon.  Sheridan Media

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Sheridan College announced that it will build 40 new horse stalls at Agripark and 20 stalls on Arena Drive for both rodeo team members and students with horses. Construction will begin soon so that the Agripark stalls are ready before the next rodeo season in late August or early September.  Sheridan Media

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • At a special meeting held Tuesday, June 3, the SCSD#3 Board of Trustees discussed the teacher contract issue and heard public comments as motions for the Director of Curriculum and Instruction failed for lack of a second vote (several parents and teachers voiced their support). The board then approved contracts for gym bleachers, painting, windows and roof repairs, and accepted the resignation of Instructional Coach Joslyn Schiffer-Camino.  Sheridan Media
  • The Sheridan City Council approved a resolution at Monday night’s meeting to dedicate Krinkee Park in memory of Police Sgt. Nevada Krinkee — Police Chief Travis Koltiska read the resolution and invited the community to a dedication ceremony scheduled for Tuesday, June 10th at 4:00 p.m. —  Sheridan Media
  • County commissioners allocated $724,500 in general purpose excise tax funds to nonprofits in Fiscal Year 2025 and approved $595,500 in GPET allocations for Fiscal Year 2026 during Tuesday's meeting — the funds will support local nonprofit work in the community.  The Sheridan Press
