COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Krinkee Park will be dedicated next week—local officials say the ceremony marks a special moment as residents enjoy seeing the park each day.  The Sheridan Press

CRIME NEWS

  • A motion hearing was held Tuesday in Fourth Judicial District Court for Hunter Weiss, a Sheridan man charged with two felony sexual assault counts stemming from an incident on December 25 when he was transporting a VOA resident to the hospital—Judge Darci Phillips quashed subpoenas and set a June 20 deadline for supplemental briefings ahead of his trial on August 18.  Sheridan Media

CULTURE NEWS

  • WYO PLAY will present the musical 'Oliver! JR.' at the WYO Performing Arts & Education Center from June 18 to June 21 at 7 p.m. each evening, marking 30 years of youth musicals and featuring over 60 local students after a seven-week rehearsal period; tickets cost $18 for adults, $14 for students + $9 for those 12 and younger.  Sheridan Media
  • Paul Del Rossi and Dylan Crouse discussed a new mural on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse that will brighten the Woolworth Building (171 N. Main St.) to showcase local values. Designed by Joel Ostlind and painted by Lisa Norman, the 10 ft. by 66 ft. artwork will be unveiled at 11:30 a.m. on June 18.  Sheridan Media

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On May 31, Big Horn High School held its 2025 Commencement in the school gym where Sofia Maria sang the national anthem and Principal Mike Daley welcomed the graduates—senior leaders and student speakers gave advice as diplomas were handed out and confetti was launched.  City of Sheridan

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Sheridan County Weed and Pest will use a fixed wing airplane to fog large water areas with Vectobac 12AS — a natural larvicide that stops mosquito larvae from turning into adults— on June 5 and 6 while hand applications will treat stagnant water. The work is weather dependent and will not harm fish or pollinators.  City of Sheridan
  • The Sheridan City Council approved an ordinance to amend the city code for courts, fines and imprisonment unanimously during its second reading this week—City Attorney Brad Thimmesch said the changes mainly update formatting while removing outdated sections—and the code will need one final council reading before it takes effect.  Sheridan Media

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Developer Tanner Greig, a 2018 Sheridan High School grad, is working on affordable housing in the Downer Addition area near Taylor Avenue and West 15th Street. Four houses are nearly complete and will be for sale soon while eight more units are planned as part of a larger project to help locals stay in town—keeping housing affordable for the community.  Sheridan Media
