  • The Hub on Smith is encouraging local residents to stay active this summer with programs that include fitness classes, outdoor recreation, creative arts, and technology training. CRIME NEWS

  • Sheridan police took a juvenile runaway from Colorado into custody after a local resident reported him asking to do yard work for money on June 1, and he was later reunited with his father.  City of Sheridan

CULTURE NEWS

  • This year marks 150 years since the famous Custer Battle near Crow Agency, with several commemorative events planned later this month and Sheridan’s 7th Cavalry Drum and Bugle Corps performing Garryowen.  City of Sheridan
  • The Voices and Votes exhibit at the Museum at the Bighorns ends Saturday, June 13 — it will travel to Cheyenne for its 250th birthday celebration. Admission is free through Aug. 31 due to a partnership with the Wyoming State Museum and the Homer A. and Mildred S. Scott Foundation.  Sheridan Media

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A Trace One study found that Wyoming had the best safety manager ratio in the nation in 2025, with 23.5 managers per 10,000 workers and 660 managers earning a median wage of $90,905 (compared to 11.0 managers and a median wage of $85,042 nationwide).  Wyoming News Now

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Sheridan Community Land Trust is hosting a volunteer fence removal project near Dayton on June 5 to boost wildlife movement — local residents can join to help remove sections of the outdated fence.  The Sheridan Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Wyoming Interagency Working Group on Childcare (administered by the Wyoming Community Foundation) is accepting applications for provider grants until July 15 to award up to $10,000 per applicant. The program aims to expand sustainable childcare access to help families and businesses in state communities.  Sheridan Media
  • Libertarian candidate Shawn Johnson, a Thermopolis-based attorney and former combat medic, will appear on the general election ballot Nov. 3 after winning his party’s nomination+experts say his conservative appeal could draw votes from a divided GOP faction.  Cowboy State Daily
  • Sheridan Fire-Rescue welcomed six new firefighters at the SF-R station on Monday (June 1) after 13 weeks of training with 400 hours of instruction, 20 structure fires and daily fitness; the ceremony was the largest on record and SF_R Chief Gary Harnish named Wade Larsen Top Gun of Class 26-1.  Sheridan Media

  • The Johnson County Healthcare Center board approved credentialing recommendations for staff re-appointment at its May meeting — Chief-of-Staff Dr. Brian Darnell led the discussion. The decision supports stable hospital operations moving forward.  City of Sheridan
  • At the recent board meeting, Director of Operations Anna Carlson at Johnson County Healthcare Center detailed that the new website launched last month and that a power outage drill was completed (she regretted an incident with a squirrel).  Sheridan Media
