  • US Highway 212 over Beartooth Pass + Dunraven Pass in Yellowstone National Park opened for summer travel this past weekend. Motorists should note that an upcoming weather system may force a brief re-closure until snow plow crews confirm safe conditions.  Sheridan Media
  • Attendees enjoyed the 42nd annual Lake DeSmet Fishing Derby during Memorial Day Weekend at Lake DeSmet, hosted by the Buffalo Lions Club. The three-day event — a key fundraiser — awarded prizes and cash and will release its winners list soon.  Sheridan Media
  • Kane Funeral Home held its fourth Memorial Day event on Monday, May 25 to honor fallen heroes with a cannon salute, a horse-drawn casket, and a tribute by retired Army Sgt. 1st Class Dana Bowman and the American Legion Post 7 Cavalry Drum and Bugle Corps.  Sheridan Media

  • Don Day, a local meteorologist, said that an El Niño is forming while computer models overstate Pacific warming that some call a Super El Niño. He added that Wyoming will see improved moisture later as the impacts are expected to emerge in fall through spring.  Cowboy State Daily

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Saturday, May 23, the Lady Broncs clinched third place in the 2026 WHSSA State Soccer Championships by beating Green River 5-0 at the Energy Sports Complex in Gillette.  City of Sheridan
  • Wyoming’s 18 Special Olympics athletes will head to Minneapolis to compete in the 2026 USA Games later this year, joining over 4,000 competitors from all 50 states and the District of Columbia.  Casper Star-Tribune
