- ➤ Kristina Miller, a Naval veteran with the Sheridan Veterans Committee, invited locals via Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse to honor fallen veterans—placing flags on graves starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 24 at the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Volunteers are also needed for a Memorial Day Tribute on May 26 and for flag removal on May 31—allowing the community to reflect on the sacrifice of those who served. Sheridan Media
- ➤ Champion Kane Funeral Home will host the 3rd Annual Memorial Day Tribute Event to honor service members—offering a ceremony with marines, sailors and airmen, free brunch, lunch, a bouncy house and yard games. The event will begin at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 26 at 689 Meridian St. Sheridan Media

- ➤ Sheridan Community Land Trust Director of Conservation John Graves and the Bighorn Fence Initiative have organized a volunteer event to install wildlife-friendly fencing at the Big Goose Natural Area to support deer movement and protect ranch operations—volunteers will work from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 31 at 14 Lane Ln and are asked to leave pets at home. - ➤ The Wyoming Department of Transportation opened U.S. 14A on May 22 after crews removed up to eight feet of winter snow from the 22-mile mountain pass for Memorial Day travel+ motorists are advised to obey speed limits and avoid forest service roads. City of Sheridan
- ➤ Sheridan County’s portion of Red Grade Road from the snowmobile turnouts west to the Dome Lake Road intersection is now fully open to wheeled vehicles after crews cleared snow to Twin Lakes. Sheriff Levi Dominguez advised drivers to follow forest service laws and use only open passable roads—some roads remain safe only for high clearance or four wheel drive vehicles. City of Sheridan
- ➤ SCSD#2 held a meeting on May 21 to draft a policy for staff and volunteers regarding concealed carry of firearms, and Superintendent Scott Stults said legal advice confirmed the policy would not change district liability. An anonymous staff survey showed most do not plan to carry while over half would take training, and the board approved moving forward with a first reading on June 9 — with public input set for July 14.
