  • Kate Gladdin (daughter of 65-year-old Julie Fitzsimons, who was fatally struck at the North Main and West Fifth intersection) is launching Sheridan’s first Pedestrian Awareness Month in May to promote safer crossings locally.  The Sheridan Press
  • The Brinton Museum's curatorial assistant, Kristy Bruce, told Public Pulse about ongoing volunteer opportunities, including indoor work at the Forrest E.   • On Saturday, a man with a big beard climbed into a Sheridan storm drain to rescue ducklings as a frantic mom duck signaled distress — neighbors joined in to save the young birds and reunite them with their mother.  Cowboy State Daily

  • The Jentel Artist Residency Program will host its studio tour on Tuesday, May 26 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 132 Lower Piney Rd. in Banner—attendees will view artwork, writing and music while enjoying a light lunch; RSVP is encouraged.  Sheridan Media

EDUCATION NEWS

  • At Holy Name Catholic School, students are building life skills in a bilingual choir group. Spanish teacher Maria Montaño said the program not only showcases musical talent but also promotes unity.  The Sheridan Press
  • The Tongue River High School spring concert took place Tuesday, May 19 in Dayton, where the choir, garage band, and band performed various solo pieces (photos by Clint Wood).  Sheridan Media
  • At a May 7 meeting, the Wyoming State Board of Education approved JCSD1's request to shrink its board from nine to seven members, a historic first for the state board. Superintendent Charles Auzqui noted the decision sets a new course for the district.  City of Sheridan
