- ➤ Science Kids and Sheridan Community Land Trust will host a bird watching walk at SCLT Big Goose Natural Area on Thursday, May 22 as Dr. Julie Rieder guides participants through pastures to see migrating birds and learn basic identification skills. - ➤ On Tuesday, May 13, the Sheridan Community Land Trust held its Explore History program at The Hub on Smith where Kevin Knapp discussed early electricity in Sheridan and Dayton — highlighting life before the Acme Power Plant built in 1910. The free program will be repeated on Tuesday, May 20 from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the TRVCC in Dayton — giving residents another chance to learn about our local history. Sheridan Media

- ➤ Sheridan County School District 2 Superintendent Scott Stults was named 2026 Wyoming Superintendent of the Year. He said the award—meant to honor strong work—shows his school district’s effort to serve students well. The Sheridan Press
- ➤ Sheridan School District 2 is asking the public for input on its gun free zone policy — a review prompted by the Wyoming Legislature’s recent repeal that will guide future school safety measures. Wyoming Tribune Eagle

- ➤ The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is holding two public meetings on May 19 + an in-person meeting at 5 p.m. in Sheridan for proposed changes to Chapter 44 and a virtual meeting at 3 p.m. for revisions to watercraft and fishing rules. Public comments will be accepted through June 10 before the changes are reviewed in a July meeting. City of Sheridan
- ➤ The Wyoming Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit faces an uncertain future as USGS has ordered it to develop liquidation plans that could end its nearly 50-year legacy of wildlife migration research—federal cuts and layoffs may soon hamper its conservation work. - ➤ Sheridan Police Department Officer Sgt. Nevada Krinkee was honored in Washington DC during National Police Week when his name and those of 146 officers who died in 2024 were added to the walls at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial—his photo joined the Hall of Remembrance during a Candlelight Vigil on Tuesday night. SPD Special Operations Lieutenant James Hill read the Police Week proclamation at the Sheridan City Council meeting, and the National Peace Officers’ Memorial Service was held on May 15 at the West Front of the U.S. Capitol.
