  • Earlier this week, Reid Rasner, owner of Omnivest Financial, donated blankets, clothing, games and toiletries at Sheridan VA Medical Center to help homeless veterans who may have fallen on hard times—his family ties to military service inspired the support.  Sheridan Media

CULTURE NEWS

  • Actor Robert Taylor from Longmire turned down a paying job to join Longmire Days in Buffalo from July 17-20 and will greet fans at Casper airport—he plans to visit local spots in Sheridan after the event.  Cowboy State Daily

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Commercial construction spending in Wyoming increased 116.8% over five years to $761 million while per capita spending reached $1,303—limited population growth of 1.1% shows a robust industry expanding with federal support.  Wyoming News Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Sheridan County commissioners ratified a right-of-way grant offer from the BLM for County Road #26, Red Grade Road on public lands—giving the county the right to construct, operate, maintain, and terminate the road over a permit area measuring 170 feet wide, 4,742 feet long and covering 18.51 acres.  Sheridan Media
  • The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is holding two public meetings on May 19 for local input on proposed regulation changes; an in-person meeting is at 5 p.m. at the Sheridan Regional Office plus a virtual meeting is at 3 p.m. where written comments will be accepted until 5 p.m. June 10 ahead of the Commission’s July hearing.  Sheridan Media
  • A U.S. House committee stalled bills that would remove restrictions on gun suppressors and short-barreled rifles and shotguns, which has angered gun rights advocates. Wyoming's congressional delegates say they support the changes so gun owners face fewer hurdles when buying these items—advocates expect the stalled bills to be added to a future budget package.  Cowboy State Daily
