- ➤ On May 8, SCSD#1 hosted its teacher awards ceremony during teacher appreciation week, honoring retirees and educators; Tina Melin was named Teacher of the Year and Dr. Jamie Clifford received the District Apple Award (with four times more nominations), while an honorary award remembered bus driver Steve Jones. - ➤ Sheridan High School students in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes offered free donuts on National Day of Prayer Thursday to anyone who wrote a prayer, and gathered at 7:50 a.m. by the flagpole to pray. This event sparked a calm, shared moment at school. City of Sheridan

- ➤ Sheridan County Weed and Pest held a meeting on leafy spurge control on Wednesday, May 6 at Clearmont Fire Hall to explain free consultations, chemical treatments, and biological options like beetles and goat grazing. - ➤ Sheridan Police Chief Travis Koltiska read a proclamation at City Council designating May 10 to May 16 as Police Appreciation Week and May 15 as Peace Officers’ Memorial Day. The department will send two officers to national memorial events honoring fallen officers. Sheridan Media
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Sheridan Memorial Hospital is exploring a change to a critical access designation to secure 101% cost reimbursement and allow doctors more time with patients. The hospital applied for the transition earlier this year and approval could take up to one year. Sheridan Media
