COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Sheridan Veterans Committee is inviting local residents to help place flags on veterans’ graves at the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery on Saturday, May 24 (9 a.m.) and to join the 3rd Annual Memorial Day Tribute on Monday, May 26 (10 a.m.). Volunteers will also be needed to remove the flags on Saturday, May 31 (9 a.m.).  Sheridan Media

CRIME NEWS

  • Sheridan man Logan Chivers, 19, was arraigned Tuesday in Fourth Judicial District Court on charges of burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary and interference with a peace officer after he and two others allegedly stole items from unlocked vehicles near Sheridan Junior High School on April 6—prosecutors say the case may soon be resolved through a plea agreement.  Sheridan Media

  • Sheridan High seniors promised to take a stand for change in their school and community. Jae Bing from Pinedale, who loves fishing and spending time outdoors, shared his story to inspire their pledge.  The Sheridan Press

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Wyoming Game and Fish Department Sheridan Region Office warns residents that active black bears are roaming the area and urges locals to secure garbage, pet food, and livestock grain — communities like Story, Big Horn and Dayton report nearly annual bear visits — to prevent conflicts.  Sheridan Media

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A study shows that only 2.9% of Wyoming's major roadways are in poor condition, with 21.2% in fair shape and 75.9% in good condition (compared with 13% nationwide). The research used Federal Highway Administration data to track road quality trends.  Wyoming News Now
  • Sheridan City Council approved a revised fiscal year 2025 budget in March that raised city spending to nearly $140M — about $20M more than the previous plan.  The Sheridan Press
  • Governor Gordon and the Wyoming Veterans Commission announced four celebrations for Wyoming Veterans Welcome Home Day on Saturday, May 10. Ceremonies will be held at 8:45 a.m. in Afton, 10:45 a.m. in Riverton, 1:15 p.m. in Sheridan, and 3:15 p.m. in Wheatland (officials including Maj. Gen.   • Captain Tom Ringley of the Sheridan Police Department appeared on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse to discuss National Police Week, which runs from May 11 to May 17, and said that SPD officer Sgt. Nevada Krinkee—killed in the line of duty on Feb. 13, 2024—will be added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial along with 146 other officers.  Sheridan Media
