COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Director of Conservation John Graves is leading a free public tour of the new Sheridan Community Land Trust Big Goose Natural Area—covering 117 acres with grassy pastures, upland range, riparian lowlands and cottonwoods along Big Goose Creek—and the guided walk runs from 9 a.m. until about 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 10.  Sheridan Media
  • The Knights of Valor will return to Sheridan on July 26 to joust in a medieval festival that benefits CHAPS Equine Assisted Services — the team, led by Captain Shane Adams, a multiple-time World Champion, will showcase jousting while the event brings together costumed contests, vendors and family activities.  Sheridan Media

CULTURE NEWS

  • Dr. Eric 'Doc' Richards leads the 9th Annual POPS Concert — a family-friendly event that celebrates works by Sheridan College students and community musicians in the Symphony Band and Jazz Ensemble Big Band. The concert is set for 7 p.m. May 8 at Kinnison Hall in the Whitney Center for the Arts and guests must reserve seats or lose them by the first song.  Sheridan Media

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Arvada-Clearmont School is hosting its first Amazing Shake Competition today from noon to 4 p.m. Nearly 40 students will test their professional manners and conduct by completing challenges at about 20 stations+advancing through further rounds.  Sheridan Media
  • At the May 5 board meeting, SCSD#2 named Superintendent Scott Stults as the 2026 Wyoming Superintendent of the Year and Special Education Director Traci Turk as the 2025 Director of the Year—Board Chair Shane Rader explained that candidates were chosen by each region and voted on by superintendents, and Stults credited his team for the honor.  Sheridan Media
  • Sheridan College’s SkillsUSA team earned multiple state honors at a recent championships in Casper—students competed with peers from across Wyoming and received top awards for their skills.  The Sheridan Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, a state-issued driver’s license or ID that is not REAL ID compliant will not be accepted at airports—Wyoming Driver Services credentials now show the required star. The Wyoming Department of Transportation urges residents with older IDs to renew them to meet federal travel requirements.  Sheridan Media
  • Sheridan County Commissioners approved a rezone request on Tuesday to change a Downer Addition property from C-2 Commercial to UR Urban Residential after WY Off Market Properties, LLC applied for the change + Commissioners Holly Jennings and Nick Siddle backed the move to allow more housing development in the area.  Sheridan Media
  • At The Hub on Smith in Sheridan, the Wyoming Veterans Welcome Home Ceremony will be held on May 10 from 1:15 to 2:00 pm, and Gov. Mark Gordon along with military leaders will honor veterans as part of a statewide effort to thank service members — including those from Korea and Vietnam.  Sheridan Media
