  • Sheridan resident Kate Gladdin proclaimed May as Pedestrian Awareness Month at Monday’s council meeting (honoring her mother who died in a pedestrian accident last May) and organized a two mile walk from the Historic Sheridan Inn that will begin Saturday, May 30 at 9:30 a.m.  Sheridan Media

  • On Friday, May 1, the Chamber hosted a ribbon cutting to welcome Cloud Peak Ballooning, a company owned by Ginny Rieger offering hot air balloon rides around Sheridan — expanding local business options.  Sheridan Media

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Two Tracks (an internationally known Americana band) will host an album release concert at the WYO Theater on Thursday, May 21 at 7 p.m., ahead of releasing their fifth album, Seasons Unknown, on June 5. The band celebrates a decade together.  Sheridan Media

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Rocky Mountain Power joined the Extended Day Ahead Market on the Western grid to lock in cheaper power and help lower rates for ratepayers. Wyoming officials will review grid control + pricing changes for five years to ensure the new market benefits consumers.  Cowboy State Daily

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On May 4, the SCSD#2 Board heard kindergarten and first grade students from Story Elementary School present the Pledge of Allegiance. Principal Scott Cleland honored Jane Buell as staff member of the year and recognized FFA and SkillsUSA state champions + further business will follow.  Sheridan Media
  • SCSD#2 Board approved a Friday graduation schedule for the 2027-2028 and 2029 ceremonies during a May 4 meeting due to conflicts with WHSAA over Memorial Day weekend. The board also set school lunch prices and approved the 2027-2028 calendar, with the next meeting on June 8 at the Central Office.  Sheridan Media

HEALTH NEWS

  • Sheridan County Weed and Pest Control District started mosquito prevention efforts early due to warm spring weather by treating larvae and trapping adult mosquitoes ahead of their usual mid-May schedule on Sheridan Media's Public Pulse, and residents are advised to reduce standing water to help prevent West Nile Virus.  Sheridan Media

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Instacart data from 2025 showed that Mother's Day was the busiest gifting day as orders rose 18 times above average; Wyoming customers ordered roses at +96% above the national rate and more tulips, while families also chose gourmet items like filet mignon.  Wyoming News Now
