  • Champion Kane Funeral Home will host the 3rd Annual Memorial Day Tribute Event on Monday, May 26 at 9 a.m. at 689 Meridian St. in Sheridan — the event will offer free brunch, yard games and music to honor service members who gave their lives for our country.  Sheridan Media

ECONOMY NEWS

  • The Wyoming Arts Alliance released an economic report on April 30 showing that creative industries generated $1.3 billion in GDP and nearly 10% growth since 2016—supporting 14,518 jobs and $929 million in labor income. Officials will use the report's findings to guide discussions on further funding and policies for the arts amid federal cuts.  Wyoming News Now
  • Average gasoline prices in Wyoming have risen 1.9 cents to $3.10 per gallon on Monday—GasBuddy.com surveyed 494 stations across the state.  Wyoming Tribune Eagle

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • On Saturday night, hundreds of people saw a huge purple-green fireball streak across Western states. Experts said the meteor entered the sky above Yellowstone around 9:20 p.m.—it exploded and left a smoky trail while no one was hurt.  Cowboy State Daily

HEALTH NEWS

  • Johnson County Healthcare Center Clinic delayed its move into the new clinic area to allow for needed modifications — Clinic Director Heidi Huntley said that Plan One will review the space this week to resolve the issues.  City of Sheridan
  • The Wyoming Department of Health has warned residents to protect themselves and their pets from ticks this spring by using EPA approved insect repellents, treating outdoor clothing with permethrin, and checking for ticks after spending time in grassy or wooded areas—experts note most tick bite cases occur in May. The department also said ticks may carry diseases such as tularemia, Rocky Mountain spotted fever and Colorado tick fever while adding that Lyme disease is not found here.  Sheridan Media
