COMMUNITY NEWS

  • CHAPS Equine Assisted Services announced the Tournament of Knights fundraiser will be held on July 25 at Sheridan County Fairgrounds to support its scholarship fund. Tickets went on sale May 1 at $20 for ages 13 and older and $10 for ages 7 to 12, with free entry for children 6 and younger.  City of Sheridan
  • Sheridan Recreation District is hiring lifeguards and instructors before the Kendrick Pool reopens on June 7. The grand opening will offer free admission, raffles, giveaways, food trucks and a sensory tent — all sponsored by Bluepeak Internet.  Sheridan Media

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Brinton Museum in Big Horn received a $75,000 grant from the Terra Foundation for American Art to support its exhibition The Unfinished War: The Battle of the Little Bighorn in Native American Art, now on view until Sept. 14. The show highlights Native perspectives on a historic battle & deep cultural ties.  City of Sheridan

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A Sheridan County student received a continuing scholarship from the Wyoming State 4-H Foundation (recognizing academic and community service achievements).  The Sheridan Press
  • Sheridan College launched its annual Golf for Knowledge Scholarship Tournament to kick off a drive aimed at raising $200,000 for the new President’s Scholarship benefiting Johnson County residents. Local donors are invited to contribute + support local students.  The Sheridan Press
  • SCLT is hosting a two-part Discovery Session led by Jody Sanborn to help women learn backcountry skills and trail running so they can feel more confident outdoors.  The Sheridan Press

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Sheridan County Weed and Pest District will host a meeting on leafy spurge management on Wednesday, May 6 from 1-4 p.m. at the Clearmont Fire Hall (1245 Front St.) to share programs and resources for fighting the invasive plant.  City of Sheridan

HEALTH NEWS

  • Sheridan County Detention Center launched Cowboy State’s first Medication-Assisted Treatment program today through a grant from the Wyoming Association of Sheriffs and Chiefs of Police (WASCOP) in partnership with Sheridan Memorial Hospital’s Addiction Clinic to reduce recidivism and support inmate reintegration.  Sheridan Media
