  • The Sheridan County YMCA is looking for active—fun-loving male camp counselors to join its team for the upcoming summer camp season after last year's shortfall with female counselors. The position offers outdoor work in the Bighorn Mountains where counselors mentor children and build valuable skills.  Sheridan Media
  • Friends of the Library is hosting its annual book sale at the Johnson County Library with over 150 large print books, DVDs, and more available for purchase; the sale runs today from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.—and will continue tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.  City of Sheridan

  • WYO PLAY will host a Close Call Story Slam on May 13 at 6:30 p.m. at Lotus Cafe at the Wyoming Performing Arts and Education Center, where storytellers have 5 minutes to share original close call stories for a chance to win cash prizes. Sign-ups start at 6 p.m. and only the first 10 participants (donating $5 for the prize pot) may join.  Sheridan Media
  • Candy Moulton writes her farewell column as she marks spring at Beaver Creek and changes at Cowboy State Daily, stressing the need to support Wyoming’s cultural institutions.   • Big Horn Preschool started in 2012 with seven students and now serves 62, but it faces limited classroom space — a challenge that could slow its future growth.  The Sheridan Press
  • The Johnson County School Board approved procurement requests at a recent meeting+ the projects include two bell and intercom systems, repairs to a school boiler, the purchase of Chromebooks and shot clocks, a gym floor refinish, and an allocation for a CORE Learning Inc. program totaling just over $1.54 million.  Sheridan Media

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Wyoming Department of Transportation said there were no significant changes this week on the Buffalo Main Street project due to weather, and the Fort Street traffic signal was turned back on on Thursday while the right turning lane near City Hall and The Occidental remains closed. Paving will begin from Fort Street to Parmalee Street on Tuesday, May 6 (weather permitting) as flaggers and stop signs manage traffic at the busy Hart Street intersection.  Sheridan Media
