  • The Sheridan Gem and Mineral Show will be held at the Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Sheridan Hotel and Convention Center from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 3 and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 4—organizers Sara Heywood, Bill Bradshaw and Eddie White invite local residents and rockhounds to view vendor displays featuring gems, minerals, jewelry, fossils and interactive activities for children.  Sheridan Media
  • Sheridan Dog and Cat Shelter will offer vaccination clinics in May for rabies—parvovirus and distemper vaccines at $15 each with an optional free exam designed to alert pet owners to potential issues. Shelter officials Hannah Edwards and Sue Johnson shared the plan on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse and urged residents to vaccinate their pets during National Pet Month.  Sheridan Media

CRIME NEWS

  • Two Sheridan individuals faced arraignment Tuesday in Fourth Judicial District Court as 37-year-old Brittin Smith pleaded not guilty to a felony drug distribution charge for allegedly selling Xanax—while 47-year-old Shad Bracken, arrested on March 26 for speeding and drug-related charges, also pleaded not guilty, with jury trials set for September 22 and pretrial conferences scheduled on August 26 at 10 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.  Sheridan Media

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Following last Friday's order from the Department-of-Government Efficiency to cancel nearly $400 million in AmeriCorps grants, Wyoming organizations face a loss of about $2.4 million in annual funding that may reduce services in education, conservation and community health. The cuts have already terminated AmeriCorps VISTA positions and halted new hires by groups such as the Wyoming Conservation Corps and Teton Science Schools.  Wyoming News Now
  • City staff recommended a bid for more work on the North Heights subdivision + the city plans to complete the second and third phases of its rotomill and overlay project later this year.  The Sheridan Press
  • The Wyoming Game and Fish Department has released the third edition of the Wyoming Landowner’s Guide to Fences and Wildlife — a free resource that details fence designs to help ensure wildlife can move safely.
