  • Sheridan invites residents to join the Community Cleanup and Trees for Trash event on Saturday, May 2, clearing parks, pathways, and public spaces and using a free landfill disposal day for eligible items. CULTURE NEWS

  • The Hub on Smith hosted a more than three-hour Spring Craft Fair Tuesday in Sheridan. A reel of the event is available on Facebook+Instagram featuring the local crafters.  Sheridan Media
  • On April 26, Forest B. Dunning presented a history program at the Big Horn Women’s Club building with a record crowd in Big Horn City. He used maps and photos to explain the Battle of the Butte — a turning point in the Sioux Wars that preceded Crazy Horse’s surrender.  Sheridan Media

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Sheridan County school districts reported fewer teacher applicants and are boosting recruitment efforts—administrators plan to enhance benefits and professional development to attract and retain quality educators.  The Sheridan Press
  • Sheridan College is hosting a free public lecture today at 7 p.m. with Jenny McDonald, Ph.D., director and medical science liaison at Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation that will highlight career opportunities in the field.  The Sheridan Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Wyoming Game and Fish Commission set the 2026 hunting seasons after an April meeting in Riverton. The updated schedules will guide local hunters and wildlife management during upcoming hunting periods.  The Sheridan Press
  • Sheridan County Airport is addressing a migratory bird issue as Manager Robert Gill disclosed a plan during a recent commission meeting. Cannons will be in place for a couple of weeks + periodically moved across the airport grounds.  Sheridan Media
  • The SBA announced low interest federal disaster loans for small businesses & nonprofits in Sheridan and affected counties to help offset drought losses; applications must be submitted by December 21 to secure funds up to $2 million.  Sheridan Media

  • At the Sheridan Dog and Cat Shelter, Hannah Edwards and Sue Johnson advise pet owners to use tick and flea treatments as reports confirm ticks in grassy areas. They urge consulting veterinarians and monitoring for Lyme symptoms (joint pain, fever, reduced appetite) to keep pets safe.  Sheridan Media

  • Sheridan's Brad - Khaos - Klepperich fought Rojello - The Dawg - Dominguez in a five-round Cruiser Weight Title Fight at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall on April 25. He won by split decision and announced his retirement to turn professional.  City of Sheridan
  • The Sheridan Chess Association announced that three chess grandmasters will travel to Sheridan during the first weekend in May for the 2026 Wyoming Community Foundation Open chess tournament + more details will follow.  The Sheridan Press
