- ➤ Phorge Makerspace moved to 1205 Broadway St. after receiving a Sheridan College grant in 2023 and was featured on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse to share its workshop offerings. - ➤ The Wyoming Community Foundation Open Chess Tournament will take place in Sheridan from May 2nd to 4th and will feature players of all skill levels including three chess grandmasters, three national masters, three life masters and state champions from Wyoming, Montana and Colorado. - ➤ The WYO Performing Arts and Education Center will host Bindlestiff Family Cirkus at the WYO Theater on May 1 at 6:30 p.m. The event will feature high-flying stunts, funny tricks and circus acts — mixing old styles with new art while tickets are available at different prices for adults, seniors, students and children. - ➤ Director Carrie Edinger of the Museum at the Bighorns gave an update on the remodel of the historic Woolworth building at 171 North Main. Eight weeks into the first phase the interior layout is taking shape and phase two will design exhibit space and a preservation room for over 30,000 historical items — a move expected to attract more visitors. - ➤ Sheridan County Weed and Pest Control District (SCWP) has urged landowners to watch for rising grasshopper numbers as early nymph stages emerge from mid-May to June. - ➤ The Wyoming Game and Fish Commission met in Casper on April 21-22 and approved regulation and season-setting changes for the 2025 hunting season after nearly a year of stakeholder input. Updated details plus revised harvest quotas and boundary adjustments will be posted online by early May. Sheridan Media
- ➤ The Wyoming Community Development Authority said local leaders must act on the housing shortage because state lawmakers did little to help with workforce housing, and towns like Upton used WCDA tools to study local needs—based on the state plan. - ➤ Sheridan Police Department swore in a new officer on Friday afternoon at City Hall. The department said it will prioritize hiring additional officers in 2025. The Sheridan Press
- ➤ City Engineer Thomas Morneau presented details on a major pavement maintenance project in the North Heights area during Monday night’s City Council study session — the project is in its second phase and staff recommended awarding a $2.33 million bid to LJS Concrete and Excavating — with the bid set for review at the next City Council meeting.
