COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Veterans from the Sheridan VA mental health program visited Papa Joe’s Produce on April 21, engaging with horses and working in the greenhouse in a collaboration with At-Ease-Horsemanship — a nonprofit aiding veterans. At-Ease-Horsemanship will host a free WY PBS screening at the WYO Performing Arts Center on May 7.  City of Sheridan
  • The Sheridan Community Land Trust will host a volunteer night to restore Hidden Hoot Trail on Friday, May 1 from 5 to 7 p.m. Volunteers will meet at Black Tooth Park and later enjoy donated burritos from Qdoba (advance sign-up required).  Sheridan Media
  • The Sheridan Community Land Trust has opened a new Welcome Center at Big Goose Natural Area that features interactive exhibits — History, Recreation, and Conservation — where visitors learn by doing. The center is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with select Saturday hours.  Sheridan Media
  • VOA of the Northern Rockies hosted its annual fundraiser THE EMPTY BOWL at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall on Thursday, Apr. 23 + Valor Academy’s Jack Kellem served chili to guests.  Sheridan Media
  • Local Broadway Street businesses will host May Day on Broadway on Friday, May 1 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. to celebrate spring with in-store specials and community activities *inspired by the May Day Basket tradition*.  Sheridan Media

CULTURE NEWS

  • Jentel Artist Residency will host its next Jentel Presents event Tuesday, April 28, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Inner Circle of the Fulmer Public Library, inviting community members to bring lunch and enjoy presentations by in-residence artists with light refreshments provided.  City of Sheridan
  • Sheridan College will host Music on the Mall in a free, family-friendly setting at Whitney Mall on campus on Sunday, July 5 from 2 to 8 pm. The lineup includes local folk singer Doug Andrews, Montana-based Abby Webster, Cruz Contreras and The Black Lillies, and headliner Sweet Megg.  City of Sheridan

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Sheridan County Library System Director Amy Long told Public Pulse that grant funding is being used to refresh branches countywide with final touches underway at some, and while renovations begin on the Fulmer all locations remain open for community visits.  City of Sheridan
  • Community members will meet SCSD#2 Superintendent Scott Stults on Wednesday, April 29 from 5 to 6 p.m. at the SCSD#2 Greenhouse (1995 W. 5th Street) to discuss school food programs and his departure at June's end as he transitions to lead the Wyoming Association of School Administrators on July 1.  Sheridan Media

  • Sheridan County Sheriff Levi Dominguez appeared on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse to remind the community that prom season has begun and urged parents to talk with their kids about the dangers of drinking and driving (and the need to buckle up) as each school district plans a separate prom weekend.  Sheridan Media

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County Legacy Board of Trustees approved designating Sheridan Memorial Hospital as a critical access facility, a move expected to boost local care access + enhance emergency response.  The Sheridan Press
