- ➤ The Sheridan Community Land Trust announced a Discovery Session for residents on Saturday, May 17 at 9 a.m. at the SCLT Big Goose Natural Area (14 Lane Ln.) where participants will work with archaeologists from Cultural Resource Analysts, Inc. to survey the property over 4–6 hours and uncover artifacts linked to Sheridan's past. - ➤ Science Kids and the Sheridan Community Land Trust are hosting a family-friendly session for locals to watch Great Blue Herons build nests as they return to the area; the event will be led by ecologist Dr. Julie Rieder and is scheduled for April 24 at (5 p.m.) in the (Sportsman’s Warehouse parking lot). - ➤ The Sheridan College Choirs will perform a benefit concert for the Dog and Cat Shelter of Sheridan on April 29 at 7 p.m. in Kinnison Hall at the Whitney Center — the event will support local shelter efforts. The Sheridan Press
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Wyoming Game and Fish Department will seek instream flow water rights for six stream segments—including two in northwest Sheridan County—to protect Yellowstone cutthroat trout habitat. The Department will hold public hearings on April 29 in Big Horn County and April 30 at Dayton Town Hall for streams in Sheridan County. Sheridan Media

- ➤ The Wyoming Department of Transportation announced that a roundabout is the preferred solution to improve safety at the busy Big Horn Y intersection where WY 332, WY 335 and U.S. 87 meet after a study with public input showed near-miss crashes, speeding and congestion—funding is not available in the six-year plan so temporary fixes like reducing the speed limit or removing the free right of way on U.S. 87 will be considered.
