COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Sheridan VA Health Care System will host the 35th Annual Karz Club Car Show and Veteran Resource Fair Saturday, June 27, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at its VA campus. The event features classic and modern vehicles plus a model car show, and seeks volunteers and merchant booths.  Sheridan Media

  • Valeri Hovland and Chelsea Bestram rehearsed in Neil Simon’s The Odd Couple (Female Version) at the Carriage House Theater on Monday, April 20. Photos by Clint Wood captured the staged practice in progress.  Sheridan Media

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Arvada-Clearmont School book fair runs through today, April 22, letting students and community members buy books to help fill the library — the fair is held in the A/C School Library and is open from 7:30 to 4:30.  Sheridan Media
  • Sheridan College is hosting a discounted oil change event at the Technical Education Center on-campus Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to support technical students (diesel technology, machine tool, welding); prices are $25 for cars and $120 for semis with oil and filters at cost.  Sheridan Media
  • At Tongue River Elementary, student Luke Duff sings (without fear) to build friendships and share his love for music. His song highlights a supportive school environment that encourages self-expression and connection among classmates.  The Sheridan Press
  • Superintendent Chase Christensen was honored with the NASSP Advocacy Champion of the Year Award (a nod to his work-based learning model) on Monday, April 20, at Arvada-Clearmont School. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • University of Wyoming Invasive Plant Specialist Kelsey Brock said that amaranth species including palmer amaranth and waterhemp pose a growing threat to crop production following an updated UW Extension bulletin released April 21; local farmers and residents are urged to bring samples of unusual pigweed for identification (if needed).  City of Sheridan

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Sheridan officials shared insights on the growing popularity of electric bikes, scooters, and motorcycles as summer nears. They urged riders to use caution on local roads to help ensure safety.  The Sheridan Press
  • Laura Dalles from the Wyo DOT announced that April 20-24 is National Work Zone Awareness Week to promote caution in work zones. Today is Go Orange Day and the public is urged to wear orange and slow down to support road workers.  City of Sheridan
  • Sheridan County’s portion of Red Grade Road is now fully open to wheeled vehicles after Road and Bridge crews completed safety improvements + the Sheriff’s Office thanked the public for its patience.  City of Sheridan
